Counselling and Support Services
Accredited professionals provide counselling and support services to promote healing to traumatic and destructive past-life experiences and to refocus thinking towards a hope-filled lifestyle.
Our practitioners use art, fitness, health, and play to alleviate the distress of hopelessness often experienced by those living with mental illness and chronic pain. These creative therapies will promote physical, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive wellbeing and assist clients to refocus their thinking onto a hope-filled life. Individual and group sessions will be available.
Life coaching is provided by accredited coaches to encourage every individual to pursue the dreams and desires in their heart. They will encourage and facilitate skills training within the organisation and across business partnerships throughout the city.
As a Christian faith-based organisation, prayer assistance is offered to enhance the healing process. Approved team members will be available to pray with individuals throughout the pathway experience offering hope and encouragement.
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is an effective treatment approach for a range of mental and emotional health issues. CBT aims to help a person identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and to learn practical self-help strategies. These strategies are designed to bring about positive and immediate changes in a person’s quality of life. CBT is helpful for anxiety, anxiety phobias, depression, low self esteem, substance misuse, eating disorders, or insomnia.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an action-based therapy that helps clients learn to stop avoiding, denying, and struggling with their inner emotions and, instead, accept that these deeper feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations that should not prevent them from moving forward in their lives. With this understanding, clients begin to accept their issues and hardships and commit to making necessary changes in their behaviour, regardless of what is going on in their lives, and how they feel about it. ACT is helpful for treating stress, anxiety, social anxiety disorder, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and psychosis.
Dialetical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a type of talking therapy. It is designed for the specific needs of people who experience very strong emotions. DBT helps you learn to manage your emotions by letting you recognise, experience and accept them. DBT is used to treat people suffering from repeated self harming, alcohol and drug problems, eating disorders, depression, feelings of hopelessness, and PTSD.
Family Therapy and Child Development Counselling
Family Therapy is a powerful counselling tool to assist parents and children identify destructive behaviour patterns and promote helpful strategies, problem solving and communication skills. It is particularly effective with learning difficulties, social problems, behavioural disorders, anxiety, depression and grief.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy model that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that result from disturbing life experiences. EMDR therapy involves attention to three time periods: the past, present, and future. Focus is given to past disturbing memories and related events. It is given to current situations that cause distress, and to developing the skills and attitudes needed for positive future actions. Studies have shown EMDR is very effective in treating clients suffering PTSD, panic attacks, pain disorders, disturbing memories, and complicated grief.
Sozo is the Greek word for saved, healed and delivered. Sozo Counselling is a model of Christian counselling designed to help individuals close the door on the effect of trauma, abuse, destructive behaviours or hopelessness. It is a very gentle experience as you connect with God and His hope and healing.
Art therapy involves the use of creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, colouring, or sculpting to help people express themselves artistically and examine the psychological and emotional undertones in their art. With the guidance of a credentialed art therapist, clients can “decode” the nonverbal messages, symbols, and metaphors often found in these art forms, which should lead to a better understanding of their feelings and behaviour so they can move on to resolve deeper issues.
Art Therapy is helpful for treating clients who have experienced trauma, loss, or grief through significant life transitions and suffering from depression and anxiety disorders. It uses the creative process to help express feelings that are difficult to verbalise.
Nutrition and Dietetics
A lack of essential nutrients is known to contribute to the onset of poor mental health in people suffering from anxiety and depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and behaviour disorders. Dietetic interventions, as part of a collaborative approach for mental health promotion, support and encourage mental well-being by enhancing lifestyle and behaviour, self-esteem and a healthy body image, improving knowledge and skills.
Dieticians can help you manage healthy body weight, improve appetite, reduce binge eating, regulate emotional eating, and reduce gastrointestinal issues through dietary review. This is an important aspect to mental well-being.

Life coaching sessions will help you gain clarity about your life goals, improve your confidence, empower you to overcome obstacles, assist you to build strategy and pathways to achieve outcomes and keep you accountable to these goals. Coaching will help you get “unstuck” from life’s challenges and inspire hope to dream again. Coaching is available in individual and group mentoring sessions.
